  • The all-new 2020 Mazda CX-30 will be priced starting at $22,945, only a few hundred dollars more than the Mazda 3 sedan, which starts at $22,420.
  • The CX-30 will be equipped with the Mazda 3’s 2.5-liter inline-four engine, which makes 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.
  • The compact crossover is expected to go on sale in early 2020.

With Mazda’s desirable crossover body style and the underpinnings of the Mazda 3, the all-new CX-30 was only missing an attractive price, and now it has one. Even though it was not named CX-4, it fits neatly between the CX-3 and CX-5 in Mazda’s lineup. Starting at $22,945, the all-new 2020 CX-30 is just over $500 more expensive than the Mazda 3.

The CX-30’s four trim levels all come equipped with the Mazda 3’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Unlike on the Mazda 3, a manual transmission is not available. Front-wheel drive is standard on the CX-30, but each trim level comes with available all-wheel drive for $1400. We expect Mazda’s spark-controlled compression-ignition Skyactiv-X 2.0-liter inline-four to be optional after the CX-30 reaches the U.S. market early next year; it’s already available in the Mazda 3 in Europe.

The lineup closely mirrors the options available with the Mazda 3. The all-new vehicle comes with a standard 8.8-inch touchscreen and Mazda Connected Services, which allows owners to lock and unlock, remote start, and monitor their vehicle through the MyMazda app. The CX-30 also comes standard with Bluetooth, two USB inputs, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and automated emergency braking.

The Select trim level ($24,945 to start) adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and keyless entry. The Preferred model starts at $27,245 and adds 12-speaker Bose audio, a shark-fin antenna, heated front seats, a memory eight-way driver’s seat with lumbar, a gloss-finish black grille, and three months of SiriusXM. The top trim level, the CX-30 Premium, has a head-up display, leather seats, a power liftgate and moonroof, paddle shifters, and LED head- and taillights. That model is priced starting at $29,245.

We expect the CX-30 to go on sale early in 2020.
